Wengen and its surroundings were one of the first regions in Switzerland where an intense tourist and sport activity developed in the late 1880s: climbing and trekking during the summer months, alpine and cross-country skiing during the winter months.
The mountain railway, a cog railway, still today the only means of transport to reach Wengen from the Valley below, was inaugurated i 1893. The lack of a road is what keeps the village virtually car-free.
It is in this region, one of the most spectacular of our planet earth, with breathtaking views to the Jungfrau and the valley of Lauterbrunnen that in 1985 the Hotel Falken was built.
The Falken is a historic hotel that, since the beginning was managed with care and attention by the family von Allmen-Cova. The unique old charm and style are complemented with all modern comforts in order to create an exclusive universe dedicated to the clientele.
Andrea Cova who, together with his mother, Elsa Cova, has managed the hotel for many years, was an extraordinary man who continually had extraordinary and brilliant ideas. It is with thanks to him that today the Jungfrau - Aletsch - Bietschhorn area is part of the UNESCO WORLD HERITAGE, he was the initiator.
