Leisure

Wengen, and the Bernese Oberland generally are amongst some of the most enchanting mountain regions in the world.
Wengen is an absolute paradise for mountain lovers thanks to the magnificent panorama and the activities on offer.

Whichever is your preferred activity, this can be organised for you at the Hotel reception:
     - extreme sports, excursions, trekking in summer;
     - cross-country and alpine skiing, snow shoes excursions or luge during the winter months.

In winter, when it is full  moon, we can also organise dinner, usually a chese fondue, up at Kleine Scheidegg and return, under the moonlight, with skis or luge, weather permitting.

Summer: Wengen, situated in th eheart of the Jungfrauregion is the perfect place for every type of mountain excursion. There are plenty of short and long walks that can be started right from the garden of our Hotel or, that can be reached with local transport.

On the first day of your holiday we may propose for you to reach Mannlichen, by cable car and, from there, walk to Kleine Scheidegg. It is a rather pleasurable and easy walk, not too demanding and you can admire the wellknown Eiger north face.
Once at Kleine Scheidegg, we suggest you savour a typical Swiss dish, Rosti with melted chese or a Rosti with an exquisit Bratwurst.
After your lunch you can than chose to walk back to Wengen or come down by train.

For a more demanding outing we may suggest to go down to Lauterbrunnen and, by bus reach the end of the valley, Stechelberg.
From here walk up through the national reserve, surrounded by mountains that rise towards the 4000 metres, 13.000 feet, and spectacular waterfalls.
A visit at the Obersteinberg Hotel to taste their famous nut cake would be in order before descending back into the valley and admire, on the way, the Talbach waterfall.

For the more adventurous ones Wengen, and the surrounding region, offer numerous extreme sports like river rafting, canyoning, mountain biking, bungee jumping, sky diving and base jumping.

Winter: The ski slopes pass right by the Hotel so you can leave and come back virtually to the doorstep with skis on. Luge and snow shoe walking can also start right here.

In the centre of the village, about 100 metres from the Hotel, you will find the ice rink where you can chose between curling and ice skating.

Every january, Wengen is host to the famous international ski race: the Lauberhorn downhill, considered the most spectacular downhill race of the World Cup. Slalom and the super-combined also are part of the sporting weekend and the atmosphere in Wengen i selectrifying.

On the opposite side of the Lauterbrunnen valley there is the Schilthorn, another wellknown mountain, where the Lames Bond movie "At her Majesty's Secret Service" was filmed.

For those of you who prefer a slower pace, Wengen also offers lovely winter walks, guided snow shoe walks, or a relaxing SPA.
We may also propose a typical Swiss lunch on the terrace of one of the many mountain Restaurants where you can enjoy the pure air and warming sunshine.
